Words Bea Taylor
Film buffs rejoice, YouTube and New York’s Tribeca Enterprises are bringing you a 10-day digital film festival — streaming free. We Are One: A Global Film Festival will feature programming from 20 top film festivals including Cannes, Toronto, Sundance, Berlin and Tribeca. Viewers will be asked to make an optional donation for the World Health Organisation’s Covid-19 relief fund.
Curated by Jane Rosenthal of the Tribeca Film Festival and set to run from 29 May to 7 June, this free-to-watch, zero-ads programme will include feature films, shorts, documentaries, music, comedies and panel discussions. Rosenthal said, “We often talk about film’s uniquely powerful role in inspiring and uniting people across borders and differences to help heal the world. All the world needs healing right now.”
The full schedule is yet to be announced but cinephiles can expect to see a thought-provoking line-up of classic and new films, art house delights and independent cinema from across the globe.
Mark it in your diaries and panic buy some popcorn.
