The new A.D. of Givenchy? None other than Matthew Williams

Matthew Williams, the streetwear design icon, has just been named as the successor to Clare Waight Keller at Givenchy.

Givenchy have decided to spread their designer wings and widen the appeal again — this time, by the appointment of Californian-born Matthew Williams. The former art director for Lady Gaga and Kanye West, made the announcement himself via his own social media and seems (surprisingly) humble by the role.

“I am grateful to the LVMH group for trusting me with the opportunity to fulfil my lifelong dream.” — Matthew Williams.

In a move that’s widely considered as a future-thinking strategy by LVMH, Williams’ self-trained streetwear background brings with him a forward-thinking, diverse fan base. And, while we’re looking forward to seeing his collection come October, we’re waiting with abated breath at how the stale members of the fashion industry will receive his streetwear-influenced aesthetic and modern innovative ethos.
