Word of warning. Like what see you? Move fast.
It was the year 2016. A new brand broke onto the New Zealand fashion scene and we were instantly crushing. Founder and creative director, Maggie Hewitt has a knack for success but not merely in the way you may initially surmise.
Sure, her business has been astoundingly successful, with her gear sold at international fashion behemoths like Farfetch and Net-A-Porter but, dear reader, not only does Hewitt have a finely tuned eye, she also possesses altruistic sensibilities.
In keeping with her steadfastly local spirit, Hewitt has reached out to another fine creative, Christina Pataialii. The Fine Arts graduate and Rydal Art Prize award-winning artist plays with culturally specific visuals and ambiguity. Her work simultaneously bold and shy.
The result is the ‘Coco’s Cantina’ shirt in a print entitled ‘Somewhere’. Presumably named after K Rd’s finest. The garment itself is a floaty, oversized fit crafted from Bluesign and OEKO-TEX® silk. The perfect garment for many an occasion — think gallery attire, man repeller moments or simply when stuck at home, lockdown style.
