Thought a crochet fashion item was a moment you’d never witness first-hand in your generation? Think again, because Karen Walker has just picked up the hooks.

It’s getting cold. We’re missing the luxury of office air-con keeping the temp just right, home suddenly feels cooler than a beer fridge and there are only so many cups of tea to be drunk.

Enter Karen Walker to save our digits freezing off with her latest collab — Karen Walker x Classic New Zealand sheepskin slippers. While most of us (me) have been simply moaning a lot in lockdown, a team of four artisan crocheters based in Hawke’s Bay have been busily hand-producing some really goddamn cute booties. They’re crafted using locally sourced 100 per cent sheepskin, woolen yarn, come in choc or cream and, to top it off, have the most-excellent FernMark certification seal of approval.

Pour a cuppa, head online and secure your pair of limited-edition crochets slips before nana beats you to it.
