Marina Abramović, your favourite conceptual and performance artist, models Burberry, opera style.
In a happy ending of a 30-year dream, Marina Abramović announces her musical theatre performance of 7 Deaths of Maria Callas. The conceptual and performance artist, philanthropist, and art filmmaker has been busying herself between naked performances with a collab with longtime friend Riccardo Tisci of Burberry.
Costumes by the Burberry chief creative officer will take centre stage adorned by Abramović to accompany her seminal performance. The opera, which draws from the life of American-born Greek soprano singer, Maria Callas, world-debuts tonight (after a COVID postponement) at Munich’s Bavarian State Opera House (Bayerische Staatsoper) to much anticipation.
Accompanied by tunes from composer Marko Nikodijević, the creative collaboration between Abramović and Tisci sees a juxtaposition of traditional theatre costume paired with modern elements.
Take a trip to staatsoper.tv this Saturday and tune into the livestream of Abramović performance about celebrity, love, inner turmoil and seven deaths. You will not fall asleep while watching this spectacle.
