A luxury leathergoods brand partners with a charity store

New Zealand’s Yu Mei team up with The Wellington City Mission in a bid to raise $50,000 for those most in need.

In what can only be described as the shittest shitstorm of this century, COVID-19 has upturned the lives and minds of many. The team behind Yu Mei, the luxury leather goods brand, returned to their post-lockdown 1.0 office and began a conversation around how they could help those in need.

The result is a campaign entitled, Bags For All, whereupon Yu Mei made available 100 bags at cost price for The Wellington City Mission to sell (at a discounted price) and reap the rewards by retaining 100 per cent of the proceeds.

“This unique partnership means that the proceeds from the sale of the bags will not only go towards helping us deliver the programmes and services we provide on a daily basis, but also promote and share the commonalities between both our brands and values.” — Jeremy Neeve, social enterprise manager at The Wellington City Mission.

It’s a unique partnership, perhaps seemingly a little odd at first glance, but the ethos behind Yu Mei and The Wellington City Mission match up. Both carry the same values with community sitting at the heart of the partnership.

Make yourself available this Saturday 10 October and pop in to Taranaki Street’s Wellington City Mission store to grab a bargain in a purpose-built, recycled materials-constructed concept space.
